Traditional Thanksgiving observances came and went, with little if any mention of the November 22nd anniversary of a young President’s assassination in 1963. President John F. Kennedy, at the apex of his political ascension, challenged every American to “.. ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
Poignant lessons of these historic words appear merely naïve, comic wishful thinking juxtaposed with a terminally self-absorbed “I-ME” narcissism dominating today’s media-driven pop culture.
Heaven help us all if we discard, ignore Mr. Kennedy’s profound admonition, accelerating America’s rapid descent towards third-world-nation status amidst popular demand for endless “free” stuff promised by a grossly-overweight, decidedly incompetent, frequently corrupt government leviathan.
