PODCAST: Facebook Censoring Say it Ain’t So

Among the reasonable and fairly well-defined criteria Twitter uses to censor content is this more ambiguous criterion: content “that incites fear about a protected group” or that “degrades someone.”

Similarly, Facebook includes this wildly expansive and ambiguous definition of banned “hate speech”:

PODCAST: Trouble in the Evangelical Covenant Church

This is a story that illuminates the critical importance of sound church leadership informed by unequivocal, courageous commitment to biblical truth.

No Protestant denomination will be spared attacks on theological orthodoxy by apostates and heretics who view Scripture as a means to their pernicious ends of normalizing sexual sin. The attacks will come in fits and starts, and the victories for wolves in sheep’s clothing will be incremental. True Christ-followers need to be steeped in Scripture, led by pastors who know and boldly teach truth, discerning, and committed to suffering for Christ and his kingdom.

The recent Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) annual meeting called the Gathering, at which delegates vote on leadership and doctrinal positions, serves as a sad example of what is going awry within Christendom.

PODCAST: Is Anyone Affected by Trans Deviance?

We often hear the question, “How does _____ (fill in the blank with some sexually deviant activity) affect you?” Such a question reveals an all-too-common degree of ignorance about how ideas affect culture. Such a question ignores how much time it takes for ideas to percolate through culture. Let’s look at the most recent deviant ideology to capture the dulled imaginations of foolish, self-indulgent people: the “trans” ideology.

Despite its relative newness, we’re already seeing the effects of the science-denying, reality-denying, nonsensical assumptions of the “trans” cult, which have been spreading like wildfire, torching everything decent in their path. Here are some of the ways people are being affected…

PODCAST: Will “Progressives” Affirm Identity of Christ-Followers?

We at IFI identify as theologically orthodox, Bible-believing Christians. Our faith is central to our identity. We did not choose this identity. We were chosen. We must act in accordance with our faith in order to be our authentic selves. We believe compassion and love are irrevocably connected to and dependent on truth.

PODCAST: Lawsuit Against State of Illinois’ Unconstitutional Ban on Counseling for Minors

IFI is asking for help from supporters in moving forward an important lawsuit against the state of Illinois. In light of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in favor of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers in California (NIFLA v. Becerra) and with the encouragement of IFI and others, Mauck & Baker, a Chicago-based law firm committed to protecting religious liberty, is considering a lawsuit against the Illinois law that bans counseling for children and teens who experience unwanted same sex attraction or gender dysphoria.

PODCAST: No Surprise, Leftists Want to Fight Dirty

“Progressives” control academia, government schools, the mainstream press, professional medical and mental health organizations, the arts, and are infiltrating even churches. And now they seek absolute control over the judiciary through “court-packing.” They want constitutional revisionists to dominate the Supreme Court even if that means expanding the number of Justices. And some of them openly share their reasons for this proposal, thus exposing the brazenness of their tyrannical quest to transform America into a totalizing and totalitarian “progressive” dystopia.

PODCAST: Be of Good Cheer About Brett Kavanaugh

In an email, conservative Chicago attorney Joseph A. Morris, former Assistant Attorney General of the United States, President and General Counsel of The Lincoln Legal Foundation, and frequent guest on WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight,” told IFI that he is “thrilled by the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh,” elaborating…

PODCAST: Erasing the Racial Divide

Racial division has intensified over the past ten years, division that is exacerbated by political policies that harm the black community, political rhetoric that seeks to maintain racial division, and government schools that embrace and promote Critical Race Theory. Over the weekend, racial hostility popped up in a most unlikely place: the comments section of Illinois Family Institute’s Facebook page under a short article about a homosexuality-celebrating float in an Independence Day parade and a tranny-training camp for children called Camp Drag being held this summer at the Ames, Iowa public library.

Here are the comments left by “Trevor Thompson” followed by my responses:

PODCAST: Perversion Poisons Childhood in America

Two young couples I know and their young children attended an Independence Day parade in a conservative town. For about the fourth year in a row, a homosexual “pride” float was a noxious presence in the parade. This year one of the fathers gave it a “thumbs down” as it passed by, which resulted in some other onlookers booing him. One man said to him, “think about the kids.”

Surely he jested.

PODCAST: Might NIFLA Help Overturn Bans on Same-Sex Attraction Counseling

So much good news from the U.S. Supreme Court this week, from the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy to the Janus v AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) case, which will severely weaken the power of public sector unions, to the NIFLA v. Becerra case, which asserts that the speech of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers is, indeed, protected speech.

Justice Kennedy surprised the nation by announcing his retirement at the end of July, giving President Donald Trump another opportunity to continue to restore respect for constitutional principles and historical American values. Perhaps we will see that proverbial long arc of justice bending more often toward justice.

Fascistic California lawmakers eager to impose their beliefs by any unethical means at their disposal passed “The California Reproductive Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency Act” (FACT Act) which requires the following…

PODCAST: Sarah Huckabee Sanders & Family Kicked Out of Restaurant

On Friday night, Stephanie Wilkinson, owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, kicked out Sarah Huckabee Sanders and seven members of her family because Sanders works for the president. “Progressives”–once again demonstrating their inability to think analogically–believe this ill-treatment of Sanders and her family is analogous to the Masterpiece Cakeshop case.

Once more for the obtuse among us, Jack Phillips didn’t refuse to serve homosexuals or kick them out of his bakery. He refused to create and sell a product for a type of event that violates his deeply held religious convictions. He served homosexuals regularly. The Red Hen restaurant refused to serve any product to particular person and her family.

PODCAST: Jeanette Ward’s Profile in Courage Grace and Wisdom

School District U46 (Elgin, Illinois) School Board Member Jeanette Ward offers a profile in courage, grace, and wisdom, while fellow board members Veronica Noland and Melissa Owens offer profiles in hypocrisy and ignorance. Their hypocrisy and ignorance were revealed during a recent school board meeting discussion about proposed changes to the “Student Code of Conduct.”

In 2013, the board voted to add the terms “sexual orientation,” “gender identity” and “gender-related identity or expression” to the section of school board policy on bullying and harassment. Those are the only conditions constituted by subjective, internal feelings and volitional behavior to be specifically identified. Since board policy then concludes with the inclusion of “any other distinguishing characteristic,” there exists no necessity for naming any characteristic, let alone ones constituted by subjective feelings and volitional behavior.

But bad became worse this past Monday night when the board voted to add this language from board policy to the “Student Code of Conduct,” which all parents must sign in order to enroll their children in District U46. Prior to the 5-2 vote, with Phil Costello joining Ward in opposing the change, Ward asked if, under the policy change, students would be guilty of bullying if they refused to use the “pronoun preference for a gender dysphoric student.”

PODCAST: Accepting Including Embracing and Sharing Deviance

What kind of twisted person makes a YouTube video in which she tells two five-year-old girls and two five-year-old boys that as a “child,” she “questioned” her sexuality and that she watched the movie Nell multiple times in order to see actress Jodie Foster naked?

That’s what childish 35-year-old, Canadian television personality and mother of two, Jessi Cruikshank, recently did. Cruikshank views “gay” pride month as a teachable moment to persuade very young, impressionable children that sexual deviance is fun, funny, and worthy of support and celebration.

PODCAST: Troubling SCOTUS Decision on Cake-Baker

In a 7-2 decision the U.S. Supreme Court decided in favor of Colorado baker Jack Phillips who was sued by a homosexual couple, Charlie Craig and Dave Mullins, for declining to bake a wedding cake for their pseudo-wedding. While the decision is, indeed, a victory, a careful reading should dampen the celebration.

Phillips was appealing a decision reached by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission—a decision suffused with unmitigated religious hostility condemned by Justice Anthony Kennedy writing for the majority…

PODCAST: Child Sacrifice Legal in Ireland

Most Americans have seen footage of the obscene cheers of women and men in Ireland over the vote to repeal the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution which protected the right of the unborn simply to exist. Yes, they cheered for the legal right of women to have their own children exterminated. Mairead Enright of the Irish organization Lawyers for Choice perfectly captured the unholy essence of their response: “It’s feminist Christmas.”
