Dissecting The Left’s Panic Over the U.S. Supreme Court’s Look at Roe

One can only consider it shocking that the first-time ever pre-release leaked opinions of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices (regarding the potential overturning of Roe-V-Wade) was instantly overshadowed by hysterical hatred directed toward the Court, and a fevered, shrill demand to keep abortion legal for any reason throughout a woman’s pregnancy.  Anyone with any regard for life, and especially the lives of helpless and innocent babies, can only be appalled by the calloused demands from the Left that the Nation MUST permit the destruction of these little ones with no questions and no limits. Their death-dealing fanaticism is breath-taking!

The news that the U.S. Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade in the coming months is received as a breath of fresh air by all who love babies; but the instantaneous explosion from the Left reminds us that we are in a nation that is on a trajectory of rejecting God, hating Him and all that He loves. The Bible prophesied that the End Times will be as it was in the days of Noah, for in those days, God “saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”  (Genesis 6:5)

While some may say there is room for debate over the so-called “hard cases,” such are a tiny fraction of the totality of abortions performed.  The question many are asking is how anyone can even begin to make the case for the other 95 percent plus which are convenience abortions?  Pro-abortionists see unrestricted abortion as fundamental to their ultimate objective, which is total personal autonomy, (the good which is above all other goods).  They refuse to accept any limits, even pushing the envelope to include the killing of newborns. How can any compassionate person demand such?

Mans’ historic inhumanity to man that one reads about in history books is now displayed before our eyes.  The shear barbarity of abortion, especially late term abortions, can no longer be hidden. Technology has opened the termination centers to the public’s eye, yet the pro-death crowd does not flinch or try to explain it away. They double down! This in spite of the fact that a preborn baby at twenty weeks gestation differs from a born baby at forty weeks only in scale.

I believe the answer as to why the Left defends so intensely the killing of the unborn throughout the forty weeks of pregnancy will not be found in logic, law, culture, or history. It will only be found in Scripture. God’s Word alone explains the hyper irrationality and fanaticism behind the fevered passion of the abortion proponents.

First, denying God leaves a power vacuum in the minds of the deniers, and human pride being what it is, each person fills that void with him or herself, the imperial “I.”  (“All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way. . . .” (NKJV Isaiah 53:6).  The incongruence of such a perspective cannot be addressed here, but this is the beginning of the irrationality.  (“The fool has said in his heart, ‘there is no God.’” (NKJV Psalm 14:1).

Fifty years ago, cultural critics referred to young Americans as the “Me Generation.”  Who would have ever guessed how much worse the narcissism would get!  Few of those who reject God would actually claim deity for themselves, but they come to act as their own gods; and the attributes one would attach to deity they take to themselves. They reject anything that contradicts their own perspectives and desires, and detest external authorities, claiming the right to make their own choices, to live their own lives, and to formulate their own morality. And in the same way that God rejects competition, so do they. Sourcing their morality in themselves, they accept no boundaries imposed by others and as the imperial “I” they have no scruples about destroying anything or anyone who gets in their way. Self sits enthroned, and pleasure is the greatest good. (What could possibly go wrong?) History has shown that in such situations people are able to accept and carry out unspeakably barbarous acts.

Taking the seats of gods, they tolerate no challenge to their power. In the past few questioned the right of God to take human lives. It was understood that such was His prerogative. Now, those who are gods in their own minds take to themselves God’s prerogatives, including taking human lives at will, and therefore allow no inherent value to human life itself; and without the belief in life after death, death itself becomes inconsequential, especially the deaths of others. Scriptures point out the fact that those who hate Him go beyond carelessness about life to the point that they love death! (Proverbs 8:36). One cannot miss the proliferation of symbols of death in American popular culture. Graphic depictions of skulls, bones, and songs about death are ubiquitous as is also the use of deadly drugs. Rejecting God leads to rejecting a high view of life and produces instead a grievous tolerance of death.

Another consequence of denying God is that of losing the ability to make wise, long-term choices. This is the biblical definition of a fool, (Romans 1:22). God is eternal and calls us to see things from His eternal perspective.  But in rejecting Him, people are rendered fools living for the moment and becoming animalistic with appetites only for immediate self-gratification. Thus, it is not surprising that sexual pleasure now dominates culture. It would be difficult to deny that in the popular culture sexual activity ranks at the pinnacle of human activity, and that all other human activities have become subordinated to it. Moral and boundary free sexual activity has become the “supreme good,” eclipsing everything else, even the lives of unborn children whose very existence hampers their parents’ sexual pleasure for a time.

Unfettered sexual activity mimics drug use as people sacrifice virtually everything for another moment of pleasure. We understand the tragedy of drug and alcohol addiction where the user discards everything he once considered important to satisfy the addiction, often even losing the appetite for food itself. I recall one man’s testimony of selling his dead baby’s shoes to get another bottle of booze. As people embark on the pathway of sexual addiction, we see a parallel recklessness. Everything else is discarded to satisfy an appetite that cannot be satisfied through wanton behavior, thus leaving a trail of disease, depression, destroyed relationships, and dead babies.

One question that I have heard repeatedly since the SCOTUS leak is, “Why is the demand for abortion throughout pregnancy without exception so rabidly demanded?”  Talking heads, leaders of proabortion organizations, and high-ranking Democrat officials have been ranting that to even consider placing any restrictions on abortion is the epitome of evil! It is a very troubling issue, for it reveals a barbarity and inhumanness unlike anything we’ve ever experienced in America. Please stay with me as I try to explain what I believe is at work here, for it is a graphic illustration of the Second Psalm, “Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.’” (NKJV) It is rebels determined to live free from God’s law and justice.

While millions of these Americans claim to believe in no God and reject any subjective truth and authority, I see in Scriptures a clear declaration that God’s existence and His truths are inescapable (Romans 1). Just as one who denies gravity will not float off into space, so it is with God’s moral laws. They are written in our hearts by our Creator, and we cannot escape their effect. In the same way a lawbreaker hates the police, God rejecters hate Christ and anything that points to Him. His justice contradicts their injustice. His love exposes their hate. His grace condemns their selfishness. His goodness contradicts their wickedness. It is as Mark Twain noted, “There is nothing more irritating than a good example.” Thus, there is nothing more galling to God rejecters than the unborn who are the epitome of innocence! The unborn child is both an intolerable representation of the Creator and an impediment to the imperial “I” and therefore must be eliminated! Eerily reminiscent of grade school bullies who destroy other children’s artwork.

These God haters cry that there is no God, but we might, with Shakespeare say, “me thinks they protest too much.” Their hysterics speak of an inner voice they cannot silence which whispers in their ears that every unborn baby belongs to God, whether one week or thirty-nine weeks old. The unborn are all the same to God, and these people know it. It is stamped on their hearts; and for that reason, they cannot allow a value to be attached to a fetus at any stage of development. To allow that second and third trimester abortions are immoral renders first trimester abortions immoral. What God loves they hate, and thus they fight for the license to kill throughout the forty weeks of pregnancy without exception. To allow any restrictions on abortion dethrones the imperial “I.”  Their fanaticism is a de-facto proof of God’s existence and His moral law as well as the intrinsic value of the pre-born child.

Some who, in spite of the evidence against it hold to the intrinsic goodness of man, might argue that it is not possible for people to knowingly do something so grossly immoral as to kill living, innocent babies once they understand it; but one need look no further than the many multinational companies who do business with China, a nation unequivocally known to practice slavery, torture, and murder to know better. Sadly, given enough of a pay-off people are willing to tolerate or commit any kind of immorality or atrocity. The only check on such wickedness is God Himself.

The problem we face in the slaughter of the unborn is not about evidence, science, or facts. It is the rebellion of the heart that cries out against a Creator, a Judge, One to whom we must give an account. Abortions are not performed because there are rational arguments for killing the unborn, but because rebellious people demand a life accountable to no one other than themselves. They reject being burdened by or for anyone. It is narcissism at its worst.

Overturning Roe-v-Wade would force the pro-abortionists to prove over-and-over again in fifty states a point they know they cannot prove! Their only weapon now is shear fanaticism and fear! Facts are simply not on their side.

Better Off Dead

There are those who would have defended and encouraged a decision to kill me at birth. Of course, they would have preferred it happen before birth; but, whatever it takes.

I was born in the 60’s with spina bifida to a 16-year-old unwed mother before it was legal to kill unplanned, unwanted, and/or damaged children. I was all three. But “killed” isn’t a nice word, so, maybe I should modify my terminology like a recent couple who claims to have aborted their 22-week-old daughter with spina bifida, out of a “desire to free [her] from a life of likely suffering.” They claim to have made the decision “entirely for her.”

But straight up abortion isn’t the only life or death issue going on today. The monster is growing.

The Frozen Chosen…or Not

In vitro fertilization (IVF) seems like an ideal answer for couples struggling with fertility issues. Doctors can take the sperm of the father and the egg of the mother and manipulate the two in order for conception to occur in a petri dish. Multiple lives can be conceived together at once before they are placed (or not) safely in their mother’s womb to grow and develop.
The problem is that most of these couples don’t want “multiple embryos,” especially not all at once. No room in the womb. So, these tiny lives are either frozen for possible later implantation, used for scientific experimentation, or simply destroyed.
“Official statistics show that almost half of embryos used to help a woman conceive through in vitro fertilization were thrown away during or after the process. The embryos are created from female eggs and male sperm during the IVF process, with some introduced into the womb, put into storage, discarded as unwanted, or used in scientific experiments.” ~Andrew Hough, The Telegraph

Genetic Selection

Lately, IVF is being used in even scarier ways. Recently, genetic selection is becoming the new thing. Now doctors can examine the DNA of each embryo, allowing parents to select the children they want. While some recognize the possibility of frivolous abuses (“We’d like a blond baby with blue eyes, please”), this practice is being viewed as a great mercy to families who have loved ones suffering from horrendous hereditary diseases like Huntington’s.

Couples with the Huntington’s gene who previously remained childless out of fear of passing on the disease to their children, can now select only the “clean-gene” embryo and destroy those with the dreaded disposition before anyone gets hurt…well, except for the child(ren) destroyed in the petri dish. We need to recognize the dangerous Pandora’s box we’re opening!

I mean, what sane person would have chosen me to be the “embryo” that lived? And what about children with Down Syndrome, dwarfism, or any other number of birth defects? Further, what about those in oppressive religions or economic philosophies who only want the prized “boy” child?

In fact, given this sort of choice, what parent would select the “damaged” embryo over the seemingly flawless? My sweet cousin, Lauren, who happens to have the dreaded Huntington’s gene, said it well when she said, “In this case, to select one, you have to ‘de-select’ another. It’s like playing God.”

And the fact is that God has ordained each precious life for a purpose! Whether the miracle of conception happens in the womb or it is biologically manipulated in a dish, if conception happens, it is only because God breathed life into an eternal soul – a life fearfully and wonderfully made! What a terrifying and repulsive thought to contemplate selecting only our own children we see as worthy to live.

Translation: “60 000 RM is what this person suffering from hereditary illness costs the community in his lifetime. Fellow citizen, that is your money too. Read Neues Volk. The monthly magazine of the Office of Racial Policy of the NSDAP.”

A Perfect Race of Humans

But history is no stranger to this evil concept. During Hitler’s reign, Nazi eugenics deemed certain people “unworthy of life.” This included prisoners, dissidents, and “unclean” races, but it also included those with learning disabilities, mental illnesses, physical deformities, and those with handicaps.

Nazis didn’t kill only Jews and rebellious foreigners, they killed their own “flawed” countrymen! Today, we have our own eugenics (meaning “well born”) philosophies going on. And, for many, it involves their own children!

I have a shocking revelation for you. Are you ready? Today’s leaders who support the bloody atrocity of abortion on demand, even to the point of promoting the cold-blooded whim-killing of a perfectly healthy infant moments before birth, go beyond what even Hitler promoted! Yes, today’s abortion practices are even worse than those of the Nazis!

While Hitler would have preferred me dead (and possibly required it), he would have condemned the abortion of babies he viewed as physically and mentally fit. His insane obsession with a pure and unblemished race indeed led him to the killing of innocents, but his murder spree was limited to his own warped perception of the worthy vs. the unworthy (“unclean races,” “deformed children,” “physically disabled,” and “feeble-minded”).

“The exposure of the sick, weak, deformed children, in short, their destruction, was more decent and in truth a thousand times more humane than the wretched insanity of our day which preserves the most pathological subject, and indeed at any price, and yet takes the life of a hundred thousand healthy children in consequence of birth control or through abortions, in order subsequently to breed a race of degenerates burdened with illnesses.” ~Adolf Hitler (Social Darwinism in European and American Thought by Mike Hawkins)
In other words, he was all for the evil practice of killing babies—as long as the babies were those he viewed as worthless. But, it was illegal for an Aryan woman to abort her child, a practice he described as “wretched insanity.”
In 1942, Adolf Hitler declared:
“In view of the large families of the Slav native population, it could only suit us if girls and women there had as many abortions as possible. We are not interested in seeing the non-German population multiply…We must use every means to instill in the population the idea that it is harmful to have several children, the expenses that they cause and the dangerous effect on woman’s health… It will be necessary to open special institutions for abortions and doctors must be able to help out there in case there is any question of this being a breach of their professional ethics.”

Whether we’re talking about abortion, euthanasia, genetic selection, or genocide, it all boils down to whether or not we value human life for the sake of it being a human life—no qualifiers.

Like the “women in white,” drunk on their own power, Hitler practiced choice—that is, as long as the choice was his. Millions of carefully indoctrinated young people memorized the party line and blindly hung on Hitler’s every word. “Choice” is a word that is flippantly thrown around as some sort of virtuous proof that women are valued; and it may sound perfectly humane, unless you happen to be on the other side of the knife.

The “Women in White” at President Trump’s 2019 State of the Union Address

Human perfection is a delusion. Regardless of what we look like, all of us were born with the fatal flaw of Adam’s sin running deep in our DNA (Romans 5:12), but Jesus came to redeem us—the genetically broken, the impure, the deformed, the feeble, and the unworthy (Romans 5:19). If we trust fully in Him, His blood cleanses us. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Since Roe vs. Wade, millions of infants have been murdered in the womb for various reasons. None of which were good enough. When we begin the descent into the abyss of qualifying human life—human worth, we embrace the same madness that drove innocent lives into gas chambers.

I am here to tell you that you are invaluable! You are irreplaceable! You matter! If someone would have been shortsighted enough not to have “selected” you to live because of their own fear, confusion, or personal burden, we would have all been the poorer because of it. The world would have lost a spring of inestimable potential and beauty. In my lifetime alone, we have been robbed of over 61 million beautiful souls made in the image of God.

Life is precious. Not because of how great we are, but because of how great the God is who created us in His image. Yes, we’re broken because of sin. But instead of that nullifying our worth, God demonstrated it all the more by sending His only Son to die on a cross in our place, so that we, the flawed, could be redeemed, restored, and sanctified. Perfect redemption.

“For by a single offering
He has perfected for all time
those who are being sanctified.”

~Hebrews 10:14

Trump Walks a Tightrope

As President Trump gazed out over his audience in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber during his State of the Union address, he had to have noticed the prominent block of female Democratic lawmakers seated front and center, dressed in white to symbolize their growing power in the halls of government.  Their presence was a painful reminder to the President that in the 2018 Congressional races female voters preferred Democratic candidates by 19 points, sending a record 106 women to Congress.

As he begins the third year of his presidency, Trump is in the doghouse with the fairer sex who, according to the polls, disapprove of him by almost a 2-to-1 margin. Quite a turnaround from 2016, when Trump won the election with record support of women – notably white women.

Accordingly, the President spent much of his speech touting women’s gains during his administration, which sent the Democratic contingent to their feet in enthusiastic applause.  In addition to job creation and electoral successes for women, Trump noted that paid family leave –a key women’s issue – was included in his budget.  One senses the standing ovations when certain issues were raised were not in praise of Trump, but rather defiant, as in: “Your days are numbered.”

Undeterred by his ambivalent audience, Trump launched into his signature issue of immigration, pointing out that many female illegal immigrants are sexually assaulted on their long journey to the US southern border.  He even highlighted the presence in the chamber of an ICE agent who rescues women from sex traffickers.  The contingent dressed in white sat stone-faced and muted in lock-step with their leadership, which has announced its opposition to a border wall despite the dangers posed to female illegal immigrants

Turning his attention to a central issue for social conservatives, the President boldly announced his opposition to what he termed “chilling” legislation recently introduced in New York and Virginia that would loosen abortion restrictions: “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world … Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life,” he pleaded to vigorous applause from Republicans.

The abortion issue is gaining steam nationwide in the buildup to the 2020 national elections.  Worldometers.info, a site that tracks global statistics in real time, reports that abortions are the leading cause of death worldwide.  The 43 million abortions in 2018 exceeded deaths from all other causes, including cancer and heart ailments.  With a President who unabashedly addressed the issue in his SOTU speech, we can hope and pray that his words will encourage a great movement to overturn Roe vs. Wade and finally put an end to abortion, led by masses of those who concur with his words: “Let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God.”

29 States and D.C. Permit Abortions of Healthy, Full-Term Babies

This article has been updated to correct errors and add additional information.

Full-Term, Preborn Babies Can Be Killed For Virtually Any Reason

Why, I kept asking myself last week, are so many Americans so livid about Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) signing into law a bill passed jubilantly by the state legislature that makes it possible for women to abort full-term babies. Sure, the bill is morally repugnant and the jubilant applause by the legislature was grotesque, but 19 other states—including Illinois—allow full-term babies to be killed and for the same reasons. Seven other states and the District of Columbia allow full-term babies to be killed for any or no reason. Two other states allow full-term, healthy babies to be aborted if they were conceived during rape or through incest.

Toward the end of last week, just as outraged pro-life voices were dying down, it came to light that a new bill was proposed in Vermont which many mistakenly believe would legalize unrestricted abortion throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy. They were mistaken in that unrestricted access to abortion through the entire nine months of pregnancy has been legal in Vermont since 2014. The bill proposed in Vermont merely enshrines in state law the existing legal right as a “fundamental right.” Pro-baby-killing advocates are preparing for the day Roe v. Wade is overturned.

Late-term abortions are banned in 20 states except if the mother’s “health” is deemed at risk by allowing the baby to grow to term. But here’s the catch: “health” includes any physical, emotional, psychological, or familial factors that affect “well-being.” With that ambiguous and wildly broad definition, virtually any woman can have her baby killed at any point in her pregnancy.

Two states allow healthy babies to be killed in the womb in the 9th month if they were conceived in rape or through incest (AR, UT). Killing full-term babies is no less barbaric because they were created via criminal acts of someone else’s doing.

Seven states allow full-term babies to be killed if the babies have “lethal” abnormalities, which is de facto infanticide.

Take a gander at the chart provided by the Kaiser Family Foundation which lists the 20 states that allow late-term abortions for “health” reasons and the 7 that allow it for any or no other reason.

Also, take note of Alaska, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont and the District of Columbia. Those places are virtual killing fields. They don’t even require the pretense of a “health” reason for women to abort their full-term babies. In those 7 states, there are no bans on abortion at any stage. It’s open season on babies who, through no fault of their own, have the misfortune of being conceived in the wrong womb.

Since all 50 states and D.C. allow late-term abortions that threaten a mother’s life—as distinct from her “health”—it’s important to understand the inconvenient truth “progressives” don’t want Americans to think about: There is no life-threatening condition that would ever necessitate the direct, intentional, active killing of a baby in the womb. There are relatively rare occasions in which continuing a pregnancy threatens a woman’s life, but ending a pregnancy does not require the direct, intentional, active killing of a baby.

Doctors can induce delivery or perform a C-section to save a woman’s life in a life-threatening or emergency situation without dismembering, crushing, burning, or chemically inducing cardiac arrest in a baby. In some induced deliveries or C-sections, babies will not survive, but that is wholly different from intentionally killing them. Obstetrician-gynecologist and former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explains:

Let me illustrate with a real-life case that I managed while at the Albany Medical Center. A patient arrived one night at 28 weeks gestation with severe pre-eclampsia or toxemia. Her blood pressure on admission was 220/160. A normal blood pressure is approximately 120/80. This patient’s pregnancy was a threat to her life and the life of her unborn child. She could very well be minutes or hours away from a major stroke.

This case was managed successfully by rapidly stabilizing the patient’s blood pressure and “terminating” her pregnancy by Cesarean section. She and her baby did well.

This is a typical case in the world of high-risk obstetrics. In most such cases, any attempt to perform an abortion “to save the mother’s life” would entail undue and dangerous delay in providing appropriate, truly life-saving care. During my time at Albany Medical Center I managed hundreds of such cases by “terminating” pregnancies to save mother’s lives. In all those cases, the number of unborn children that I had to deliberately kill was zero.

GET WOKE, AMERICANS! Full-term babies can be legally exterminated in the womb for virtually any reason or no reason in most states in the U.S. Take your righteous anger at this barbarism and do something useful.

‘Pro-Choice’ Slave Masters Losing War

By Matt Barber

The pro-aborts are losing. They know it, and they hate it.

As LifeNews.com reported in January: “CNN released the results of a new poll showing a majority of Americans want all or most abortions prohibited – a clear pro-life majority.”

Indeed, the winds of life are blowing free the foul stench of a pro-abortion culture of death.

This is why President Obama and his fellow pro-abort zealot, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, have unilaterally, arbitrarily and unconstitutionally forced, through Obamacare, every taxpaying American citizen to fund “free” abortion-on-demand.

This draconian overreach is in perfect keeping with the 2012 DNC platform, which, for the first time, admits without shame: “The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to … abortion, regardless of ability to pay.”

Psalm 8:28 commands: “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”

To be sure, there can be none more oppressed than the tens of millions who, over four short decades, have been – and will continue to be – slaughtered within the safe haven of their own mothers’ wombs.

With its 1973 Roe decision, the U.S. Supreme Court put the government’s official stamp of approval on mass murder. Since then, the battle lines have been drawn. This is war. They, “pro-choicers,” are the bad guys, while pro-lifers are the good guys. It really is that simple – that black and white. It’s good versus evil.

History will reflect as much.

To the unenthusiastic mother, politically motivated abortion violence is deviously portrayed as an acceptable escape from what may seem a desperate situation. To the innocent child, it is – without fail and without due process – execution by torture.

Consider the horrific practice of Partial-Birth Abortion, innocuously tagged “Intact Dilation and Extraction.” This is a practice so brutal and so needless that even the liberal American Medical Association (AMA) admitted that it is never necessary under any circumstances.

During a partial-birth abortion, the abortionist pulls a fully “viable” child – often kicking and thrashing – feet first from her mother’s womb, leaving only the top of her head in the birth canal. This is so the abortionist can technically claim to be performing an abortion, rather than committing murder.

He then stabs the child through the base of her skull with scissors, piercing her brain until her kicking and moving about suddenly and violently jerks to a halt. Next, he opens the scissors to enlarge the wound, inserts a vacuum tube and sucks out her brains, thereby collapsing her skull.

Her now limp and lifeless body is then cast away like so much garbage.

Appalling, isn’t it? Infanticide by any objective measure.

So, naturally, Mr. Obama, reasonable fellow that he is, agrees with the AMA, correct? He and other “pro-choicers” were the first to applaud the high court when it upheld a ban on this Hitlerian practice, right?

Wrong.

Barack Obama unbelievably called the Court’s decision in Gonzales v. Carhart part of a concerted effort “to steadily roll back the hard-won rights of American women.” In so doing, he revealed to the world that leftist support for abortion “rights” has everything to do with politics and nothing to do with science or “health care.”

Moreover, consider Mr. Obama’s opposition to the “Born Alive Infant Protection Act.” It passed both houses of Congress in 2002 with overwhelming bipartisan support. Born Alive very simply requires that when a baby survives an attempted abortion – when she is “born alive” – further attempts to kill her must immediately cease, and steps must be taken to save her life.

Yet, incredibly, this president, while serving in the Illinois Senate, vehemently opposed the bill’s Illinois twin. He complained that requiring efforts to save the live victim of a botched abortion is “really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion.”

Barack Obama’s solution? Finish off the little pest.

So prepare for Obama and other pro-aborts to go utterly berserk now that Arkansas has passed the Human Heartbeat Protection Act. It requires that when an abortion is performed at or after the 12th week, doctors must test for a fetal heartbeat before an abortion is performed. If a heartbeat is detected, a woman cannot have an abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, or if a mother’s life is in danger.

This is common-sense stuff. The human heartbeat has long been indisputable proof of life both within and without the womb.

Still, and not surprisingly, even as the state legislature was overriding the Democratic governor’s veto of the new law – SB 134 – the ACLU and other pro-abort radicals were vowing to challenge it in court.

Mathews Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, has vowed to preserve it: “If asked, Liberty Counsel will defend this law without reservation, free of charge for the people of Arkansas, born and unborn,” he said.

“In keeping with medical advances, history and common sense, the Arkansas legislature has said that the life of a 12-week-old unborn child with a detectable heartbeat is protected under the law.”

And well it should be. SB 134 is just the beginning. Brave lawmakers in Arkansas have provided the template for other states to follow.

They’re on the right side of history.

Indeed, history has a way of repeating itself. The Roe decision was not the first time the U.S. Supreme Court has so disgraced our nation. Roe v. Wade represents the twin bookend to the Court’s shameful 1857 Dred Scott decision.

In Dred Scott the Court absurdly held that African-American slaves, even if emancipated, were not fully persons and therefore could never be considered U.S. citizens. Likewise, Roe v. Wade ruled that children in gestation are not fully persons and are therefore not entitled to their most basic civil right: life.

As with Dred Scott, Roe’s fate, I believe, is certain. It’s just a matter of time. History will eventually judge Roe v. Wade every bit as harshly as Dred Scott.

Call yourself “pro-choice”? Shame on you. You’re no better than a modern-day slave master. Dump the garbage and join the right side of history.

There’s plenty of room over here.
