The Consequences of Sexual Immorality with Dr. John Diggs

Our culture deals with the pervasive sin of sexual immorality to the point where many people just view sex outside of marriage (in every way possible) as “normal.”

It’s a serious problem, and the root of a lot of the current cultural chaos.

At Illinois Family Institute’s 2023 Worldview Conference, Dr. John Diggs spoke on “The Consequences of Sexual Immorality.” He does a deep dive into the consequences of sexual immorality, including STD’s, why it’s such big deal, and how the confusion about gender increases unbiblical disorder.

The Issue of Abortion with Scott Klusendorf

Sometimes our pro-life arguments can become overcomplicated by statistics, rabbit-trails, and long rebuttals to straw-man arguments from the other side. We want to defend the pro-life position with everything we can muster, but sometimes it seems like we must have an answer to every argument from a pro-abortionist to properly defend life.

Fortunately, that is not true. All we need to know in order to effectively engage is a simple syllogism and three questions, which you can find here:

In this video, Scott Klusendorf, a pro-life speaker and author with the Life Training Institute, speaks at Illinois Family Institute’s 2023 Worldview Conference on “The Issue of Abortion” and what we need to engage.

You’ll want to re-watch this multiple times, both for the instructive content and humor!

Dr. Michael Brown: The Role of Christians in the Public Square

IFI Worldview Conference: Thinking Biblically About Our Corrosive Culture

Please join the Illinois Family Institute for our annual Worldview Conference on March 7th at the Village Church of Barrington. This year we are featuring two well-respected and fearless Christian theologians who will help us better understand and better respond to the ever increasing corrupting influences in our culture. You do not want to miss this special event with Dr. Michael L. Brown and Dr. Robert A.J. Gagnon.

Summit Ministries defines worldview as “a pattern of ideas, beliefs, convictions, and habits that help us make sense of God, the world, and our relationship to God and the world.” Ligonier Ministries defines worldview as:

A person’s worldview represents his most fundamental beliefs and assumptions about the universe he inhabits. It reflects how he would answer all the “big questions” of human existence: fundamental questions about who and what we are, where we came from, why we’re here, where (if anywhere) we’re headed, the meaning and purpose of life, the nature of the afterlife, and what counts as a good life here and now.

Everyone has a worldview, and, sadly, even many Christians have a flawed worldview that falls short of God’s perfect standard. It is tragic to see how the incoherent ideology of humanism has captured the hearts and minds of many Americans and is destroying lives and families. Far too many Christians are ill-informed or misinformed on the issues of the day and consequently are buying the destructive lies the culture is selling.

We must work to correct our thinking and align it to the Word of God. It is vital that we intentionally pursue worldview training for ourselves, for our children and for our grandchildren.

Please join us to be become better informed about pernicious cultural trends and how we must respond.

Dr. Michelle Cretella: Child Abuse, Female Erasure & the Death of ALL Human Rights

Attendees of the 2019 Illinois Family Institute Worldview Conference had the privilege of hearing Dr. Michelle Cretella’s presentation, Transgender Ideology: Child Abuse and the Erasure of Human Rights.”

In this presentation, Dr. Cretella addresses the distinction between the scientific reality of biological sex and the manmade, social construct of gender. She also details the wide-ranging, disastrous consequences that will result if conservatives and Christians remain passive in the face of the erroneous transgender ideology that is embraced and promoted in many pediatricians’ offices, our children’s classrooms, and in the media–especially media targeted to children and youth under the age of 18.

Dr. Cretella is the executive director of the American College of Pediatricians (a pro-life and pro-family alternative to the American Academy of Pediatrics, now led by radical, left-wing physicians), a board-certified general pediatrician specializing in adolescent mental and sexual health, and a staunch pro-life advocate.

Please watch this important message regarding the “trans” ideology steamroller that is obliterating scientific fact and common sense in our nation and the world. We believe you will find it very informative.

Transgenderism: The Consequences

Since the time he was a young boy and his grandmother sewed him a purple dress and told him how beautiful he looked, Walt Heyer had struggled with transgenderism. Through elementary school and high school, where he was a successful student and athlete with a beautiful girlfriend, he hid his secret identity as a woman, and continued to do so through college and prestigious careers at both NASA and Honda, until he went through destructive therapy sessions and became an alcoholic, losing his job and nearly all of his respect. But then something changed–while sitting with a friend who was praying for him, he saw Christ, who promised Walt that “you are now safe with Me forever.”

Walt’s story is a story of brokenness and redemption through Christ Jesus, and a witness to the hope we can find through God alone.

Walt shared his story at the 2019 Worldview Conference earlier this year:

“Trans” Worldview Conference: Information You Need

This warning delivered by the prophet Hosea is true not only regarding knowledge of God’s existence, nature, and redemptive purposes but also regarding knowledge of the world in which we live and move and have our being. Right now, the bodies of children are being destroyed by lack of knowledge about human sexuality, and Christians who should know better largely say and do nothing. The foundation for right action is knowledge, which far too many Christians lack regarding the stunning “trans” revolution—a revolution the likes of which the modern world has never seen and too few understand.

The Illinois Family Institute hopes to play a small role in remedying the serious problem of lack of knowledge through our upcoming Worldview Conference on the “trans” ideology.

We are rapidly moving to a cultural place in which all public recognition of the reality and meaning of sexual differentiation will not be merely eradicated but outlawed. If any of the following surprises or troubles you, you need to attend the Worldview Conference:

  • Countless children will be chemically sterilized and surgically mutilated.
  • Many more children will fall victim to the phenomenon of “social contagion.” Emotionally, psychologically, socially, intellectually, morally, and spiritually vulnerable and malleable children will be provided a distorted lens through which they will misinterpret confusing, uncomfortable, and/or distressing thoughts and feelings.
  • All previously sex-segregated spaces or activities will become by law sexually integrated. No more single-sex restrooms, locker rooms, showers, shelters, jails or prisons, semi-private hospital rooms, nursing home rooms, dorm rooms, athletics, clubs, or travel tours. If state and federal laws prohibit discrimination based on sex and on “gender identity,” there remains no legal way to maintain sex-segregated spaces. If men who identify as “trans” are permitted in women’s spaces, then “cisgender” men must be allowed in as well because discrimination based on “gender identity” is impermissible.
  • The safety of girls and women will be jeopardized by the presence of men who claim to “identify’’ as women in women’s private spaces.
  • First Amendment speech, association, and religious exercise protections will erode.
  • Language rules will be instituted that will prohibit the use of some words and mandate the use of others. Failure to submit will result in fines or jail time.
  • Public schools, where many parents due to financial stresses resulting from death, divorce, desertion, or disabilities must place their children, will teach explicitly through curricula and implicitly through bathroom, locker room, and athletic policies and practices, that in order to be compassionate and inclusive, children must share private spaces with opposite-sex peers. This in turn teaches that biological sex has no meaning relative to feelings of modesty and the desire for privacy when engaged in intimate activities.
  • Public decency laws will be repealed. For example, society will be forced to treat women who pretend to be men and have obtained falsified birth certificates and driver’s licenses that identify them as men but choose not to have mastectomies as if they are men. Since men are permitted to be topless at public beaches, pools, and parks, so too will women who pretend to be men.
  • Social media monopolies, rapidly becoming the primary means of conducting business and communicating information and ideas, will ban anyone who uses language or expresses ideas that “trans” ideologues oppose.
  • Biological, adoptive, and foster parents who reject the science-denying “trans” ideology and, as a result, refuse to allow their confused children to socially, chemically, or surgically “transition” will face loss of custody or the inability to adopt or foster.
  • People—including children—will be taught that those who care about the biological sex/anatomy of their romantic partners are “transphobic.” Dissenters will be bullied.

Big Brother will continue to be enjoined to oppress dissenters, and resistance will be futile.

What Christians urgently need is knowledge and a willingness to suffer—also known as courage. In the fervent hope of serving both needs, the Worldview Conference in just a few weeks will host four leaders on the national stage who have both knowledge of the “trans” ideology and the willingness to say and do what far too many Christians shamefully refuse to say and do.

The conference will include two Q & A sessions following presentations by the following speakers:

  • Michelle Cretella: Pediatrician and Executive Director of the American College of Pediatricians
  • Walt Heyer: Former “transgender,” author, and contributor to Public Discourse
  • Denise Shick: Daughter of cross-sex-identified man, and Founder & Director of Help 4 Families
  • Doug Wilson: Senior Fellow of Theology at New St. Andrews College, pastor, author, and homeschooling father

Please come, learn, and be challenged to do more to protect the hearts, minds, bodies, and rights of our children and grandchildren. If we are willing to endure minor persecution now, perhaps our grandchildren won’t be forced to endure worse in the years to come.

“Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim. 3:12-15)

Don’t Miss Breakpoint’s John Stonestreet Teaching Worldview – May 5th!

Every day the established media and pop culture assault traditional Christian beliefs and values with messages in direct opposition to the precepts conservative Christians hold dear.

But even less overtly hostile people and organizations in our modern world seek to mold minds with messages which contradict biblical principles.

How can you, your children and grandchildren identify and challenge the false ideologies and agendas dominating the day? How do we respond to politically correct claims with gracious, unequivocal and sound argument? Are we prepared to filter out wrong thinking and courageously and respectfully engage the culture with the truth?

John Stonestreet, president of the Colson Center for Worldview, offers this description of culture:

[C]ulture is the sum of everything we as human beings create, write, say, do, and think—the marks we leave on our world. In that sense, “engaging the culture” isn’t really optional. It’s human. It’s as much a part of being alive as breathing is. We don’t decide whether we’ll engage the culture. Just how.

Illinois Family Institute’s mission is “to bring a biblical perspective to public policy.” If we truly believe that every square inch of human existence belongs to Christ, the public square is included. As Christ followers, we are called not just to care about our fellow churchgoer but also to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:26-40).  We are to care about the lies and injustices being promoted in our local neighborhoods as well as the lies and injustices being promoted in the state and national legislatures, government schools, the media, in the arts, the corporate world, sports and throughout Illinois.

Romans 8 tells us that all of “creation groans and suffers” because of the fall. Yet Christians are called to spread the gospel truth to all the nations, “teaching them to observe all things” commanded by God (Matthew 28:19-20).  How do we do this in a culture that is hellbent on revolution and rebellion? After all, not only are we calling evil good and good evil, but we are also now calling boys girls and girls boys.

The Apostle Peter admonished us:

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15)

To that end, we want to encourage you to join us for our Fourth Annual Worldview Conference featuring the aforementioned John Stonestreet.  And please, bring your older children and grandchildren.

Mr. Stonestreet has a passion “to illuminate a biblical worldview for today’s culture.” He’s an amazing speaker, writer, cultural commentator, and collaborator of worldview initiatives. This event is a rare opportunity to hone your skills of both defending the faith and fending off false teaching.

Consider Francis Schaeffer, one the the twentieth century’s great apologists. Todd Kappelman writes this about Francis Schaeffer, one of the 20th Century’s great apologists:

Schaeffer’s greatest gift, like that of C.S. Lewis, was his concern for the average Christian. He believed philosophy, theology, and ethics should not be reserved for the conversation of learned academics; rather they should be the daily concern of the man on the street. The price for ignorance of the subjects could be our life, or more importantly, our very souls. The Scriptures are very clear concerning the price of ignorance. The prophet Hosea said that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge.

. . .

Schaeffer believed that man has a natural inclination to desire the reasonable. Schaeffer argued that the Christian faith is not only true, but that it is the most plausible account for the existence of man and his place in the universe. He contended that an irrational faith is not what God intended to communicate to man. (emphasis added)

IFI is excited to offer this opportunity for you to become better prepared to follow the admonition of the prophet Hosea by augmenting your knowledge in the service of being prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks.

Please sign up now to join us for one day that we believe and pray will dramatically change your approach to education, news, entertainment and interactions with family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues, teachers, and lawmakers.

One short day could prepare you to be salt and light, to touch hearts and minds with the truth in a world that desperately needs the truth, the life and the way.

Post-Christian America Needs Radical Help STAT

America’s founders believed in God and His word, and predicated our founding documents on those immutable, biblical principles.

Though Leftists love to spout revisionist nonsense about many of the Founders being deists or worse, those accusations don’t hold water when faced with the weight of those early patriots’ own words and actions.

Thomas Jefferson, often upheld as vying for the least religious spot amongst the Founders, wrote:

I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.1

And Jefferson’s worship habits speak even louder:

Many people are surprised to learn that the United States Capitol regularly served as a church building; a practice that began even before Congress officially moved into the building and lasted until well after the Civil War.

On December 4, 1800, Congress approved the use of the Capitol building as a church building.

The approval of the Capitol for church was given by both the House and the Senate, with House approval being given by the Speaker of the House, Theodore Sedgwick, and Senate approval being given by the President of the Senate, Thomas Jefferson. Interestingly, Jefferson’s approval came while he was still officially the Vice- President but after he had just been elected President.

Jefferson attended church at the Capitol while he was Vice President and also throughout his presidency. The first Capitol church service that Jefferson attended as President was a service preached by Jefferson’s friend, the Rev. John Leland, on January 3, 1802.

Significantly, Jefferson attended that Capitol church service just two days after he penned his famous letter containing the “wall of separation between church and state” metaphor.

Now, just over two centuries later, many Americans maintain a post-Christian worldview. As written at IMB.org:

In a Christian culture, the majority of people have been shaped by Christianity, and it shows in how they live their lives. Post-Christianity, just as it sounds, is a culture that was once shaped by the Christian faith and worldview, but has since moved away from the primacy of such a worldview.

In a post-Christian society the Biblical story that once shaped culture is no longer the narrative that gives meaning to life.

The Barna Group conducted studies beginning in late 2016 and ending in mid-2017 concerning young people and their faith worldview; the findings are especially troubling.

The study sampling and definition:

Two nationally representative studies of teens were conducted. The first was conducted using an online consumer panel November 4–16, 2016, and included 1,490 U.S. teenagers 13 to 18 years old. The second was conducted July 7–18, 2017, and also used an online consumer panel, which included 507 U.S. teenagers 13 to 18 years old. The data from both surveys were minimally weighted to known U.S. Census data in order to be representative of ethnicity, gender, age and region.

One nationally representative study of 1,517 U.S. adults ages 19 and older was conducted using an online panel November 4–16, 2016. The data were minimally weighted to known U.S. Census data in order to be representative of ethnicity, gender, age and region.

GEN Z were born 1999 to 2015. (Only teens 13 to 18 are included in this study.)
MILLENNIALS were born 1984 to 1998.
GEN X were born 1965 to 1983.
BOOMERS were born 1946 to 1964.
ELDERS were born before 1946.
NO FAITH identify as agnostic, atheist or “none of the above.”

Some of the findings?

Gen Z is the first purely Post-Christian generation — the percentage of Gen-Z identifying as atheist is DOUBLE the U.S. adult population.

The article presenting the findings (with a related book available for purchase), “Atheism Doubles Among Generation Z,” notes:

For Gen Z, “atheist” is no longer a dirty word: The percentage of teens who identify as such is double that of the general population (13% vs. 6% of all adults). The proportion that identifies as Christian likewise drops from generation to generation. Three out of four Boomers are Protestant or Catholic Christians (75%), while just three in five 13- to 18-year-olds say they are some kind of Christian (59%).

The decline in a Christian-based worldview is illustrated in the graphic posted to the right.

Appallingly, over one third of Gen Z don’t believe it’s possible to know if there really is a God.

What happened to the country whose motto is “In God we trust”?

Noah Webster, the “Father of American Scholarship and Education,” wrote:

The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His apostles… This is genuine Christianity and to this we owe our free constitutions of government.2

The Christian religion… is the basis, or rather the source, of all genuine freedom in government… I am persuaded that no civil government of a republican form can exist and be durable in which the principles of Christianity have not a controlling influence.3

And, George Washington, the Father of Our Nation wrote:

While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.4

Yet in the span of just over 200 years, the youth of America knows next to nothing about God and the Bible. Church attendance, at least in mainline Protestant and Catholic churches, is declining precipitously.

What is the answer? Is it too late?

The Apostle Peter admonished us:

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15)

“Always be prepared to give an answer” — the underlying precept of apologetics, the defense of the faith.

And a vital part of Apologetics is knowing your worldview.

Gen Z may be overwhelmingly lost and devoid of hope, but we believers have the answer that restores hope. We must be ready to give that answer to a generation that sorely needs hope.

With that dire need in mind, Illinois Family Institute presents the Fourth Annual IFI Worldview Conference Featuring John Stonestreet.

Just who is John and why is he a tremendous resource for such an event?

As President of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, John’s passion is to illuminate a biblical worldview for today’s culture. He’s a speaker, writer, cultural commentator, and collaborator of worldview initiatives.

John directs conferences and curriculum projects, speaks to groups nationally and internationally, consults on worldview education for schools and churches, and appears frequently on web and radio broadcasts.

John is the co-host with Eric Metaxas of Breakpoint Radio, the Christian worldview radio program founded by the late Chuck Colson.

Don’t miss this tremendous opportunity to “study to shew thyself approved…”!

The Founders invested their hope and their faith into this burgeoning Republic, infusing our Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution with biblical precepts and a Judeo-Christian worldview.

Now is the time to recapture the explicit understanding of that worldview, and to share that hope and understanding with a lost and hopeless generation.

Reminder: Feb 18th Worldview Event with Dr. Frank Turek

In the service of helping families in their efforts to firmly establish and maintain a biblical worldview, IFI has been hosting annual worldview conferences. Our third annual conference is less than three weeks away. We are thrilled to have Dr. Frank Turek lead our 2017 conference.

Biblical literacy and a solid Christian worldview are vitally important. Christian parents and grandparents must commit to ensuring that their children and grandchildren grow up with a fluent knowledge and understanding of God’s Word. Teach it, memorize it, meditate on it, and live it.

In fact, everyone of us should work intentionally to educate and inform ourselves about the issues of the day and understand the biblical view of these issues, which necessarily requires a biblically informed understanding of human nature. Maintaining a consistent Christian worldview is critically important as our culture is rapidly embracing a secular value system, calling good evil and evil good.

Join us for a wonderful opportunity to enhance your biblical worldview and equip you to more effectively engage the culture:

Dr. Wayne Grudem on the U.S. Supreme Court and the 2016 Election

Dr. Wayne Grudem says “moral character” still matters as the nation chooses a new President. During an Illinois Family Institute sponsored meeting with faith leaders the renowned theologian and author challenged pastors to let their congregation know that the future of America is at stake and how the nation votes will not only determine who our next President will be, but also the direction of the Supreme Court. New additions to the High Court will likely decide life and religious liberty cases.

With so much on the line do we want a president who lacks moral character?
