Pornography is Popular

What’s the Most Accessed Internet Topic?   If you guessed porn, you’d be correct.  According to an April 9, 2012 New York Daily News article, 30 percent of all Internet traffic involves porn sites.

One such site has 3 times more pages viewed than CNN and ESPN – a whopping 4.4 billion views per month! The second biggest Internet porn site boasts 100 million page views a day, reports ExtremeTech.

This problem has greatly increased from a few years ago. Aside from curiosity, availability and the addictive nature of porn, one of the problems is that some schools and most public libraries still offer unfettered Internet access, many even refusing to block illegal pornography, allowing children and adults to intentionally or accidentally view sexually graphic and obscene images.

The New York Daily News offered readers a poll that asked “Do you visit porn sites?” 61 percent said YES, 21 percent said ‘Um, no comment!’ and only 18 percent said NO.  An extremely sad commentary on the coarsening of our society.

These stats only remind us of the truths about the ever increasing addictive attributes associated with pornography.  Porn isn’t just “harmless fun” as our liberal and libertarian friends may assert.  Regular exposure to sexually graphic images desensitizes men,  warps our children understanding of the proper role of sex, and it also harms our mothers, sisters and daughters.  The irreparable harm it does to those who are attacked by men stimulated by sexually explicit images cannot be questioned.  Nor can we debate the ill effects, both physically and emotionally, suffered by women in the “adult entertainment” industry.

There is a plethora of research that shows how pornography and its messages are involved in shaping attitudes and encouraging behavior that can harm individual users and their families.

So what can you do as a parent and taxpayer? Filter out hard-core pornography on your home computer for starters. There are many very reliable Internet filters that allow administrative override in the event a web site is accidentally blocked. Filters are highly recommended for every home, library and place of business.  Check out Top Ten Reviews for software comparisons.

Call the local schools and libraries that you as a taxpayer support, and ask if they filter out illegal pornography from computers, especially those used by children. Filters on children’s computers should be a no-brainer. If they don’t, ask if they would research their effectiveness and low cost. And if software is not desirable, there are many proxy servers that will filter it at their end before sending it to the customer.

For more information on the pornography problem in our public libraries, you can check out Safe Libraries.

Don’t give up on pushing this issue. Perseverance is critical.

Striving for Purity in a Hyper-Sexual Culture

By Kara Bettis –Illinois Family Institute

Young adults find it harder than ever to adhere to Biblical truths about intimacy.

Arching over a driving beat and an addictive melody, Cobra Starship croons these seductive lines: “Get a little closer to me, girl, and you’ll understand; ’cause if you want a guy that knows what you need, well then I’m your man…” In a high-pitched siren’s call, the girl responds: “Tell me what you want so we can do just what you like…”

No one listening to one of today’s most popular dance hits has to wonder what the singers are talking about. According to a report in The Atlantic Wire, 92 percent of top ten billboard songs contain strong sexual themes. Young adults are surrounded by sexual influences, and Christians are not immune.

According to the findings of a research study recently released by the Barna Group, some young people are leaving the church because their church experiences related to sexuality are too simplistic.

The study found that young adults question how to live in purity while immersed in a culture that values hyper-sexuality over wholeness. When they turn to the church for answers, they are faced with a list of forbidden activities with little explanation about how to keep from doing them.

Students and youth pastors say if the church is going to reach young adults, it must focus on the internal instead of the external.

Seventeen percent of young Christians who responded to the Barna Group survey said they made mistakes involving sex and felt judged in the church as a result.

Fallon Prinzivalli, a senior at The King’s College, agreed with the survey results and said girls often had the most trouble.

“I think teens feel ostracized by the church community, especially girls,” Prinzivalli said. “The church teaches that guys struggle with porn and sex, and girls struggle with insecurity, but it’s the other way round as well.”

Instead of finding support during their struggles, girls often face gossip and shame, Prinzivalli said.

Kyle Lincoln, a junior youth ministry major at Gordon College, believes that the issue is too complex for the church to solve.

“I think that there is so much difficulty talking among your peers, and in the church there’s even more pressure because there’s the expectation that you’re going to do the right thing,” he said.

The problem is that churches focus on morality instead of true spirituality, Steve Wright, a youth pastor in Attleboro, Mass., said. An absence of solid teaching on sexual issues exacerbates the struggle young adults have in a secular culture. The battle over sexual temptation must be fought in a spiritual way, not a moral way, Wright said.

Wright believes solid spiritual teaching for teens is rare in the church, possibly because churches assume the youth can’t understand it. Or worse, church leaders have lost touch with Biblical truths about sexuality, he said.

Wright urges churches to engage young people in a Christ-centered culture of community, along with close friends or family.

“I mean, how can anyone hope to do really well solo amidst a culture where everyone is ‘doing it,’ if you will,” Wright said. “You need to make your own culture in God’s kingdom.”

Morality in Media Decries NBC/Comcast-Playboy Porn Connection

by Morality in Media

NBC’s “The Playboy Club” is set to debut this evening in primetime and Morality in Media is asking just what type of message NBC is trying to send.

“‘The Playboy Club’ will be as exploitive of women as Playboy magazine is itself,” predicted Dawn Hawkins, executive director of Morality in Media (MIM).

The October 2011 issue of Playboy, as noted on its cover, provides a guide for the sexual exploitation of women in an article titled, “Gentleman’s Guide to Having an Affair.”

“NBC and its parent company, Comcast, should be ashamed to promote the Playboy brand. NBC’s partnership with Playboy attempts to validate the boorish and misogynistic behavior which helped lead to the modern women’s movement against the very sexism it is promoting in the show,” Hawkins said.

“The content of ‘The Playboy Club’ will not only be exploitive of women but possibly a violation of federal indecency laws,” said Patrick Trueman, MIM’s President.

A small team of volunteer monitors from MIM will view the show for possible indecent content, Trueman said and complaints will be filed with the Federal Communications Commission. The team will also keep track of advertisers who will be contacted and urged to put their money into more wholesome television programming.

Citizens are urged to sign a pledge at www.CloseTheClubOnNBC.com, not to watch the show, and to boycott sponsors.

“Our goal is to make it unprofitable for NBC/Comcast to exploit women. Thousands have signed the pledge so far, giving us an army of volunteers to fight this exploitive show,” Hawkins said.

Morality in Media, Inc., is the leading national organization focused on opposing pornography and indecency through public education and the application of the law. MIM is leading The War on Illegal Pornography, a coalition of more than 115 national and state groups whose goal is to stop the distribution of illegal pornography. Court Ruling Supports “Adult” Business Regulations

An Ohio law that shuts down sexually oriented businesses at midnight has been upheld by a federal appeals court. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law does not violate the free speech rights of the operators or patrons of so-called “adult” businesses.

The new Ohio law places tough restrictions on nude dancing clubs, prohibiting contact between dancers and patrons, and requires that they be closed from midnight to 6AM. The law was enacted to prevent the negative secondary effects of such businesses, which become more pronounced during the late evening and early morning hours.

Ohio strip-club operators had argued that the new law was restricting free “expression” and was resulting in economic harm to dancers and the establishments. The court rejected such arguments, stating that economic injury does not justify a First Amendment claim, and that patrons were still able to access so-called “adult entertainment” for the major part of the day.

FRC Urges Supreme Court to Protect Public Airwaves from Nudity, Fleeting Expletives

Family Research Council (FRC) and Focus on the Family have submitted an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in Federal Communications Commission v. Fox Television Stations Inc. arguing that the FCC’s regulations against indecent material aired on broadcast TV are constitutional.

Of the brief Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said:

“We urge the U.S. Supreme Court to follow its precedents and allow the FCC to regulate indecency on network television. Allowing nudity and ‘fleeting’ expletives to air on public airwaves will open the floodgates for more extreme indecency even at hours when children are watching television. This result is not required under the First Amendment, as the Court has ruled in the past.

“The Court has a societal interest in protecting our children from indecent material. It is first and foremost a parent’s responsibility to protect their children from indecency, but how can they protect their children if the public airwaves are inundating them with profanity and unacceptable sexual content?

“The public airways are just that – public. The networks using them have a moral duty to the American public to responsibly provide content that is acceptable for all viewers. This is not a heavy burden for those whose television and radio licenses provide them with substantial profits. There is plenty of room within the FCC’s indecency guidelines to provide excellent entertainment and meaningful art.” concluded Perkins.

Sex Offenders Reside In Homes Which Are Licensed Day Care Centers In Illinois

Government Bureaucracy Fails To Protect Children

There are many forms of child abuse…verbal, physical and perhaps the most abhorrent is sexual. The stories of teachers who are having sexual relations with their students is a case in point. Just 20 or 30 years ago, such crimes were rare. Today, they are so numerous, many are no longer reported on by the media. Also, children fall prey to sexual abuse from stepparents, foster parents, big brothers, big sisters, even parents themselves (in some cases), and other authority figures. Those who sexually abuse children violate a sacred trust and scare innocent lives.

The increase in these crimes are arguably a result of the proliferation of pornography and sexually suggestive marketing in our culture. Even children are made into sexual objects by commerciality. They are depicted as sexual beings, far before their time, forever destroying their innocence.

The fact is child abusers go where the children are. The stories of children who have been sexually abused are many, but there’s a common denominator that often exists between them. Child sex abusers find jobs, volunteer for organizations and prey on children by manipulating a situation which frequently puts them in contact with the most vulnerable in our society.

There is an explosion of child sexual abuse in America. There are many factors which have led to this tragic situation. Some may assign this to the break down of the family, the lack of parental guidance, the fact that children are often left at home alone to their own devices. FBI statistics indicate that most crimes committed by minors (or against minors) take place in between the time when children are let out of school and when their parents or guardians return home from work.

There is also another component. In the past, income from one family member could support an entire household. However, today, with higher taxation and other societal factors, it takes the income from two parents to support a household. Therefore, the latch-key phenomenon of the 1960’s has become normative in our culture.

Probably the most significant contributor to not only the sexual abuse of children, but to the sexual abuse of women as well is the rampant spread of pornography…from soft porn — which can be seen on our televisions, on billboards, in shopping mall displays and in our theaters every day — to sadistic adult and child pornography which permeates the Internet. The result? Millions of Americans are now addicted to pornography. Sadly, even women are falling to this addiction which has literally “Gone Wild” in our country.

I recently learned of a disturbing situation from former gubernatorial candidate Adam Andrzejewski in which our state government has miserably failed to protect children. He pointed out that according to a report issued by Illinois Auditor General William Holland90 addresses of day care facilities were identical to the addresses of individuals who are on the statewide sex-offender registry. Holland’s report does not indicate these sex offenders actually own or work at the day care centers, but they live in these homes where children receive care. Shockingly, at least one convicted sex offender was actually receiving payments from the Department of Human Services — the same department that licenses these day care facilities.

To say there is a crack in the system would be an understatement of the highest magnitude. One license issued to an address where a convicted sex offender resides is one too many. But in Illinois, according to the Illinois Auditor General’s report, we have 90 sex offenders living in homes where parents drop off their children.

Until a change in Illinois law goes into effect on October 1st, 2010, the Dept. of Human Services is not allowed to match up addresses of day care centers against the addresses of those on the convicted sex-offender list.

Here is the operative question regarding the above: How many children have been victims of sexual abuse in day care centers where pedophiles reside? The answer to this question will probably never be known.

Will the state of Illinois admit that a government bureaucracy designed to give sanctuary to our nation’s most precious commodity, our children, dropped the ball regarding this issue? And what else don’t we know about the government licensing agency which, seemingly, put the privacy issue of sex offenders, some of whom are pedophiles, above the protection of innocent children.

Part 2 in this series will address the current law which can only be considered as madness in its implementation, function and purpose and what can be done to rectify other problems, including licensing of facilities which have to do with the welfare of children.

Federal Court Provides No Relief to Sex Trafficking Victim

A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit against a classified ad website that has been accused of being a marketplace for sexual services.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas Mummert has dismissed the lawsuit filed against a dubious website on behalf of a teenage girl. The young girl alleged that she was being prostituted on the website by a female pimp who was advertising her availability for underage sexual services. The girl was 14-years old at the time.

The 27-year old pimp, a woman from St. Louis County, plead guilty to interstate commerce to promote prostitution last year. She had been charged with posting nude pictures of the young girl online, arranging the sexual encounters, driving the girls to the hotels, and then pocketing half of the money.

The plaintiff argued that the website knew that nude photos were regularly posted on the website soliciting sexual services of both adults and minors, but did nothing to monitor or eliminate such postings.

Judge Mummert ruled that the federal Communications Decency Act frees the website from any liability for online content posted on its website.

Mummert agreed that the teen girl had endured “horrific victimization” as a result of underage prostitution. Yet he stated, “Congress has declared such websites to be immune from suits arising from such injuries. It is for Congress to change the policy that gave rise to such immunity.”

Child advocates and federal law enforcement authorities had partial success last year in convincing the popular, yet similarly slimy website Craiglist, to eliminate its “adult services” section.

It is high time for U.S. Congress to amend the Communications Decency Act to eliminate immunity for online companies that knowingly permit their sites to be used for sexual trafficking and prostitution.

Eve’s Angels at Rosemont’s “Adult Circus”

Eve’s Angels, a ministry from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has purchased a booth at the Exxxotica Expo 2011, the porn convention that is being hosted by the city of Rosemont on July 8th – 10th. Founder Anny Donewald, once herself in the “adult” business, now reaches out to other women caught in this body- and soul-destroying industry.

During these 3 days, Anny’s team is planning to hand out 700 gift bags to both men and women which include, among other items, a Bible. They have asked to be covered in prayer for the 72 hours they will be there. They are asking for people to commit to praying for a minimum of an hour or more and for those who are able, to fast.

Please pray that God would get them there safely and that set-up would go smoothly; that He would provide many encounters with people who need to hear about God’s healing, grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Pray that God would soften hearts and that they would see the love of the Father and know it’s real. Pray that He would multiply these gift bags, with 20,000 in attendance and 700 bags to hand out. Pray that God would be glorified through these women. Pray for protection for Anny and her team.

IFI Letter to Law Enforcement Officials
Last week, IFI sent a letter to: U.S. District Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, Cook County District 3 State’s Attorney Supervisor Maria McCarthy (who has jurisdiction over Rosemont) and Rosemont Village AttorneyPeter Coblentz. The letter asks these law enforcement officials to uphold the federal and state obscenity and public indecency laws and investigate this event.

You can view a copy of a letter HERE.

Take More ACTIONClick HERE to send a message to these people who are sworn to uphold our laws. Tell them that hard-core porn, or obscenity, is not protected speech and is a violation of both federal and state laws.

Hardcore materials depict, in graphic details, every form of degrading, violent and perverse sexual behavior imaginable. There is no benefit whatsoever in allowing a gathering of this nature to come to our state and it will most likely be violating our laws. Tell them it needs to be investigated.

Lastly, there’s still time to send an email to Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens and a fax to the Rosemont trustees to voice your opposition for hosting this in the first place. Click HERE for more on this action item.

For those who already have contacted these officials, thank you!

Pornography destroys those in the “adult” business and its addictive lure has and will destroy many others, including their marriages and families.

A Call To Prayer Regarding Pornography “Adult Circus” at Rosemont Convention Center

We previously reported about the Exxxotica Expo 2011 — a traveling “adult” entertainment show and erotic convention – that is coming to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, which is owned by the City of Rosemont. Organizers are expecting this 3-day xxx-rated gathering to attract roughly 20,000 people July 8-10, 2011.

While our hearts grieve for all those caught in the deceitful web of pornography, it is time for the faithful churches and their members to pray, fast and act as the Lord leads you. We humbly offer the following as guidelines, inviting you to do as the Lord leads you in response to this deplorable event coming to our area.

Pray — It’s easy to pay lip service to prayer, our most potent spiritual weapon. Take inspiration from Leonard Ravenhill, who challenged us by once writing:

The church has many organizers, but few agonizers; many who pay, but few who pray;
many resters, but few wrestlers;
many who are enterprising, but few who are interceding.
People who are not praying are playing.

Two prerequisites of dynamic Christian living are vision and passion,
and both of those are generated in the prayer closet.
The ministry of preaching is open to a few.
The ministry of prayer is open to every child of God.

Don’t mistake action for unction, commotion for creation, and rattles for revivals.

When we pray, God listens to our heartbeat.
Hannah’s lips moved, but her voice was not heard (I Sam. 1:12-13).
When we pray in the Spirit, there are groanings which cannot be uttered (Rom. 8:26).

Tithes may build a church, but tears will give it life.
That is the difference between the modern church and the early church.
Our emphasis is on paying, theirs was on praying.
When we have paid, the place is taken. When they had prayed the place was shaken (Acts 4:31),
In the matter of effective praying, never have so many left so much to so few.
Brethren, let us pray!

1. Strategy for individuals/Christ’s ambassadors: Pray and Fast –

a. … for God to first break OUR hearts first, not in anger toward the organizers and participants but in humility and brokenness of our sin before a holy God. (2 Chron 7:14) We remember that ‘…there but by the grace of God I could be.’
b. … for the Lord to open eyes, ears and hearts of many participants to see how harmful this is to themselves, women and children.
c. … for conviction, that the Father’s heart of love toward them would break through and bring many to repentance.
d. … for those whose hearts are hardened – that God would replace their hearts of stone with hearts of flesh.
e. …that the event details would be confounded in many ways.
f. … for the glory of the Lord to fall on the facility.
g. … that eyes would be opened to see the true spirits of darkness that rule these perversions.
h. … that the civic leaders named below would awaken from their slumber and see the harm that pornography causes to men, women and children.

2. Strategy for churches/groups: Ask God to intervene in reclaiming Rosemont –

a. …by holding prayer vigils on or at the periphery of the property the day before or during the event.
b. …by buying parking at the event to hand out free water bottles or sealed snacks to patrons. Show them love, not animosity. Some are caught in the web. Have a spirit of love and rescue.

3. TAKE ACTION: Click HERE, if you haven’t already, to send an email to Mayor Bradley Stephens and a fax to Rosemont Trustees Ralph Dimatteo,Jack DorganKaren FazioJack HasselbergerSharon Pappas, and Roger Minale. Ask them to comply with the state and federal obscenity laws. Tell them that pornography degrades and exploits men, women and children and that allowing this porn convention is an affront to families.

People of God, “it is time for the theology of the church house to become biography in the streets.” We are called to love, to proclaim truth. But above all, to BE a faceless reflection of the Master, our one and only King, Jesus Christ — Lord of heaven AND earth.

“Family-friendly” Rosemont to Host Convention of Perversion

Exxxotica Expo 2011 — a traveling “adult” entertainment show and erotic convention — is coming to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, which is owned by the City of Rosemont. Organizers are expecting this 3-day xxx-rated gathering to attract roughly 20,000 people.

Exxxotica Expo 2011, or as its promoters refer to it, an “adult circus,” is billed as one of the biggest porn conventions in the country. It will offer sex seminars as well as 24 hours of “live entertainment” with “bondage and burlesque entertainers” and “women performing on swings, poles, stages and trampolines,” according to organizer J. Handy. Handy claims Rosemont has been more helpful than any other location where they’ve held this.

According to a recent Daily Herald article titled Family-friendly Rosemont hosts porn convention:

Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens doesn’t see hosting the convention as clashing with the village’s family-friendly image, nor as an endorsement of the porn industry.

“Expositions are put on by diverse groups and associations of people and may be faith-based, politically affiliated, trade oriented or sports and entertainment associated,” Stephens said in an emailed statement. “The shows at the convention center do not reflect the position or affiliation of the village of Rosemont.”

…Stephens said decisions about which conventions are allowed are based on many factors including, fiscal impact, consumer demand, tastefulness and conduct. (emphasis added)

Hosting a 3-day XXX-Rated porn party is not only inconsistent with a family-friendly image but it is a stamp of approval on an exceptionally lucrative so-called industry that exploits women and children for profit. How is that possibly family-friendly? Furthermore, it would be highly unlikely that this event would not violate both state and federal obscenity laws.

The Daily Herald further reports:

It’s not the first time Rosemont has hosted a sex industry convention. Last year’s Exxxtacy 2010, put on by New York-based Taboo Entertainment, brought to town more than 100 sex-themed vendors and dozens of adult film stars — including the mistresses of high-profile celebrities.

It’s interesting to note that New York is home to Morality in Media. Back in 1999 Morality in Media President Bob Peters ran an advertising campaign that generated tremendous opposition from the New York citizens against the “Erotica USA” 1999 trade show. While Mr. Peters won’t take the credit, the fact remains they never held their lewd conventions in New York City again. Apparently even New York-based Taboo Entertainment has enough sense to peddle their smut elsewhere. They know where they’re not welcome. So, who welcomed this New York-based company? You guessed it. Last year, family-friendly Rosemont threw out the welcome mat for pornographers.

If New York residents can generate enough opposition to keep these public orgies out of their towns, so can we. All it takes is a few minutes of your time to make a huge difference.

Take ACTION: Click HERE to send an email or a fax to Mayor Bradley Stephens and Rosemont Trustees Ralph DimatteoJack DorganKaren FazioJack HasselbergerSharon Pappas, and Roger Minale. Ask them to comply with the state and federal obscenity laws. Tell them that pornography degrades and exploits women and children and that allowing this porn convention is an affront to families.

If you’re not convinced and you still think that pornography is harmless entertainment, please check out www.pornharms.com. The research shows otherwise.

The Law

Obscenity, which is commonly referred to as hard-core or XXX-Rated, is not protected ‘speech’ under the First Amendment. The problem is that the laws are rarely enforced. Someone once said you have about as good of a chance of being struck by lightning as being prosecuted for obscenity.

A portion of the Illinois Obscenity Law from § 720 ILCS 5/11-20:

Sec. 11-20. Obscenity. (a) Elements of the Offense. A person commits obscenity when, with knowledge of the nature or content thereof, or recklessly failing to exercise reasonable inspection which would have disclosed the nature or content thereof, he:

(1) Sells, delivers or provides, or offers or agrees to sell, deliver or provide any obscene writing, picture, record or other representation or embodiment of the obscene; or
(2) Presents or directs an obscene play, dance or other performance or participates directly in that portion thereof which makes it obscene; or
(3) Publishes, exhibits or otherwise makes available anything obscene; or
(4) Performs an obscene act or otherwise presents an obscene exhibition of his body for gain; or
(5) Creates, buys, procures or possesses obscene matter or material with intent to disseminate it in violation of this Section, or of the penal laws or regulations of any other jurisdiction; or
(6) Advertises or otherwise promotes the sale of material represented or held out by him to be obscene, whether or not it is obscene.

Federal Obscenity Laws can be read HERE.

The Miller Test for Obscenity

The U.S. Supreme Court case Miller v. California, established a 3-prong test to determine whether material was obscene:

(a) Whether the average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest.
(b) Whether the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by the applicable state law.
(c) Whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

Sears Admits They Were Wrong; Finally Pulls Website Materials

AFA told the truth, despite Sears telling customers otherwise.

When American Family Association reported Sears was selling pornographic DVDs on its website, Sears initially told AFA supporters that it was untrue.

Finally, Sears called AFA on May 6 after AFA supporters flooded the company with calls and emails. During the call, Sears again vigorously denied they were selling pornography. However, AFA clearly showed Sears the material on their very own website!

When Sears realized they could no longer deny the fact that they were misleading the public, they issued this statement to AFA:
“We sincerely apologize to any customers who were offended. Our agreements with our vendors prohibit content that is pornographic or sexually explicit in nature. We are removing these items that do not meet our guidelines. We regularly review our processes to ensure compliance by our vendors, and we encourage our customers and community to help us flag any items that they believe might violate our guidelines.”

Within the space of a half-hour, Sears removed hundreds of pornographic DVDs from its website. AFA told Sears over a nine month period, that their website was carrying adult DVDs, but they chose to ignore AFA and continued to profit from it. Because you and thousands of others chose to get involved, Sears could no longer defend selling pornography, nor could they continue to deny it! Thank you for taking action and convincing Sears to get out of the pornography business. Together, and with God’s help, we are making a difference.

Tim Wildmon, President
American Family Association

Even Libraries Aren’t Safe

by Morality in Media

Pornography is the last thing you would expect to find at a public library. But, in NYC you will. Library officials claim that they “err on the side of free and open access” when it comes to pornography because they THINK it is protected by the first amendment and recognized as free speech.

This is why our efforts combined are critical. Pornography is not protected speech! This has been upheld many times by the U.S. Supreme Court. (Click here to read more about the laws.) The lack of enforcement by the Department of Justice leaves confusion about the actual laws and gives a green light to pornographers to now even flood our public libraries with their harmful smut.

We’re fighting back and making the truth known. Check out our latest press release detailing the laws that make this illegal – specifically the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) passed in 2000 by U.S. Congress.

Morality in Media Opposes .XXX Internet Domain

Washington, DC (March 18, 2011) – Morality in Media announced yesterday its strong opposition to the creation of .xxx domain, which ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) will determine by vote March 18th.

“The establishment of a .xxx domain would increase, not decrease the spread of pornography on the Internet, causing even more harm to children, families and communities, and make ICANN complicit in that harm,” saidPatrick Trueman, CEO of Morality in Media and former chief of the U.S. Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Criminal Division.

“There is no evidence that the public wants or needs this domain. In fact, each time this idea has been proposed it has been overwhelmingly opposed by the public and governments throughout the world,” said Trueman.

Hardcore obscene pornography on the Internet is already a violation of U.S. law. However, the U.S. Department of Justice under U.S. Attorney GeneralEric Holder is not enforcing the law. Trueman said those who argue that the Internet porn problem can be solved by establishing a new .xxx domain and then passing a federal law requiring pornographers to use that domain are mistaken.

“It would not only be unconstitutional to force pornography from the .com domain, but, if the Department of Justice is not prosecuting Internet porn companies now for violating U.S. obscenity laws, it is not going to prosecute such companies for merely locating in the wrong address.”

Pornography addiction is rampant, leading to grave social costs that are documented at www.pornharms.com. “A more appropriate goal should be to stop the distribution of this destructive material by prosecuting those responsible for it, not protect pornography through the use of an .xxx domain,” said Trueman. “We take this opportunity to urge U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to enforce federal obscenity laws.”

Was America’s Innocence Lost … or Stolen?

By Jim Fletcher –WorldNetDaily.com

When Alfred Kinsey emerged in American culture, “we” were, in some sense, still innocent. Certainly the horrors of world wars had forced us to eat from the forbidden fruit, but even our new-found knowledge of good and evil was kept in check by America’s fresh-faced turn toward a future of almost unlimited possibilities.

Kinsey changed all that.

If America was fresh-faced, Kinsey’s dour visage presaged an assault on our values that remains a wholly unique event in our country’s history.

The infamous Kinsey Report, which purported to research sexuality, brought society to the gates of hedonism and debauchery. Kinsey had begun studying the sexual behaviors of wasps about the time Hitler came to power clearly the Harvard-trained biologist didn’t get out much and this led him to study the same behaviors in humans.

The result was the “sexual revolution,” which not only loosened but also jettisoned social mores. Now, in a new book that shatters the myth that Kinsey was an important scientist, Dr. Judith Reisman explores the sordid world of the man who made sexual deviancy OK in America.

Sexual Sabotage: How One Mad Scientist Unleashed a Plague of Corruption and Contagion on America is a masterfully researched investigation into one of the most compelling figures of the last century.

Above all else, I value the teaching factor in any book. In other words, I like to know why things are the way they are. Sometimes, that might come in an obscure, old biography of change agents like Herbert Spencer. Happily, in the case of Sexual Sabotage, Reisman has provided us with an old-fashioned investigative piece that helps explain why we now live in such a sex-obsessed culture.

Reisman, who studied at Case Western Reserve University, is perhaps the leading authority on Kinsey today. Her work in advocating for children and women has been informed largely due to her knowledge of Kinsey’s diabolical effect on how we think about sex. Her research and tenacity in exposing the dangers of pornography have resulted in convenience store 7-11 no longer stocking Playboy and Penthouse magazines, among other achievements.

In “Sexual Sabotage,” Reisman reveals that to Kinsey, there were no sexual boundaries. That his “research” led to the abuse of children is one of the darker chapters of American history, yet few know about him.

As Reisman reports: “Kinsey says, ‘the only abnormal sex is no sex; that the human animal needs orgasms; and that the earlier boys and girls have orgasms, the better for them.'”

In other words, his evolutionary worldview enabled him to preach that morality is a human construct that impedes the progress of us “animals.”

As Reisman points out, Kinsey engaged in the ultimate character assassination, alleging that an entire generation the “greatest generation,” as it has been called was in fact “promiscuous, adulterous, homosexual and even bestial”!

Reisman begins her book by making a most compelling point: At the very moment Kinsey and his friends were crafting their deviant bias into “research,” she and her friends lived in a world in which debauchery was not known. It is but one fascinating point in a wholly fascinating book in which Sexual Sabotage becomes a clear window into the world of Kinsey’s pornographic propaganda. That it fooled entire generations is nothing short of amazing.

Reisman’s research is so thorough and engrossing, one gains a real understanding of how far-reaching Kinsey’s bogus research really was. In Chapter 12 (“Pandemic, Predatory Criminals”), we learn that a common Kinsey tactic was introducing an allegedly good intention, which in the end opened the floodgates of deviancy:

“Blaming the lack of sex education for high levels of sex crimes in the early 1950s,” Reisman writes, “Kinseyan reformers testified tirelessly before state legislatures and asserted in professional, academic and legal literature that ‘sex education’ would reduce the number of sex crimes and high recidivism rates.”

Incredibly, a friend of Kinsey’s, law professor Ralph Slovenko, alleged that victims of child molesters “seduce” their molesters: “Even at the age of four or five, this seductiveness may be so powerful as to overwhelm the adult into committing the offense.”

One struggles to comprehend such evil! Yet as Reisman points out, Kinsey and his depraved friends appeared as even-handed researchers uncovering important truths about humans. In fact, their deviancy doomed millions to a lifetime of sexual turmoil and exponentially increased the very crime rate they claimed to hate.

Sexual Sabotage is one of those books that polite company wishes to avoid. However, we would then fail to understand not only why we are in the shape we’re in, but begin to gather the courage and wisdom to confront the kind of evil Kinsey peddled. Reisman’s landmark work should be read widely, and may I suggest a niche group that should study this book: church youth pastors.

Tell Your Congressmen: ‘Sign the letter’

For three decades American Family Association (“AFA”) has been in the forefront of the battle against pornography.

Critical to AFA’s efforts has always been to demand that the U.S. Department of Justice enforce federal laws against illegal adult pornography or “obscenity” as it is called. The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed that the First Amendment does NOT protect obscene material and federal laws prohibit distribution of obscene adult pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV (including pay-per-view) and thus on hotel/motel television, through the mail, and in retail outlets.

Yet, there have been NO federal indictments for obscenity in two years by the U.S. Department of Justice. Now we have learned from a friend inside the Department of Justice that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has quietly shut down the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force. WE NEED TO ACT NOW. Pornography is causing widespread devastation in America, ruining marriages, causing addictions to children and adults, causing violence against women, and leading to prostitution and sex trafficking.

A letter from U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and U.S. Representatives Mike McIntyre (D-NC) and Randy Forbes (R-VA) addressed to Attorney General Eric Holder requests that he begin vigorously prosecuting major producers and distributors of illegal adult pornography. Senator Hatch and Representatives McIntyre and Forbes are circulating these letters now to all Members of Congress urging them to co-sign with them. They need your help as a voter to get your senators and house member to co-sign these letters to Attorney General Holder. View the congressional letter here.
