Drs. Oz & Makary Challenge Radical Gender Medical Procedures on Children

Drs. Mehmet Oz and Marty Makary both participated in a news conference on December 18, 2025 to support proposed federal rules that would bar hospitals providing radical and irreversible gender reassignment treatments for minors from receiving Medicare and Medicaid funding

As the head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Dr. Oz emphasized that children deserve protection from what he described as experimental and unproven medical interventions, stating that hospitals participating in federal programs should not conduct these procedures on youth.

Dr. Marty Makary, serving as FDA Commissioner, echoed these concerns by announcing warning letters to 12 manufacturers and retailers of chest binders marketed for use by children with gender dysphoria. Makary warned that continued illegal marketing could lead to further enforcement actions, including import alerts, seizures, and injunctions.
