Illinois State Rep. Marty Moylan (D-Des Plaines) is leading the opposition to legalized weed in the General Assembly.

“There’s other ways to generate revenue, not on the backs of our kids and young adults who are going to be addicted and sucked into this,” state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, said during a news conference outside the Thompson Center.

Regarding the bill’s provision to allow people to grow and cultivate up to 5 marijuana plants in their home, he wondered how that would be regulated, “What are we going to have, pot police?”

Moylan introduced a resolution calling on state legislators to stop rushing through the legalization process, and now has 60 lawmakers signed on in support.
