Riley Gaines Celebrates UPenn’s Surrender on Males in Women’s Sports

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) has agreed to ban biological males from participating in women’s sports following a federal investigation into Title IX violations, marking a significant policy shift.

This decision comes after pressure from the Trump administration, which paused $175 million in federal funding to UPenn earlier this year due to its inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports.

Riley Gaines also led the grassroots efforts to call out this foolishness.

As part of the agreement with the Department of Education, UPenn will restore individual Division I swimming records and titles to female athletes who lost to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas during the 2021-22 season.

Thomas, who previously competed on UPenn’s men’s swim team for three seasons before transitioning and joining the women’s team, had set several program records during his time on the women’s team.

These records have now been revised to reflect the updated eligibility guidelines, and UPenn will issue personalized apology letters to each female swimmer who was impacted by this situation.

In addition to revising athletic records and issuing apologies, UPenn will adopt biology-based definitions for the terms “male” and “female” in accordance with Title IX and Trump’s executive orders.

The university has acknowledged that some student-athletes were disadvantaged by previous policies and has committed to ensuring that women’s sports remain protected for future generations.
