There is an old hymn, that you might have sung, in which the song writer notes, “Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it. . . .” We do so quickly forget and devalue the great things we have been given. From ancient times civic leaders have been wise to erect memorials to citizens who have sacrificed or done great things for their countries.

Things are truly upside-down. Christians, who have been scorned forever as weak and milk-toast, are suddenly public enemy number one. And while Christianity has been the source of thousands of American charities and the inspiration for hospitals, medical care, and education worldwide, it is now labeled by the Left as hateful and bigoted. Then we see destructive anarchist groups like Antifa and BLM glorified in the Media and academia as forces for good! How could this be?

God is loving, we are told, and thus accepts us as we are. The idea that God will judge people for their sins is now so unpopular that few are willing to state it publicly, and many pastors have sadly bowed to the pressure to present a palatable God, a doting “Grandpa” who silently approves of His children regardless of their conduct.

Many years ago, I asked a gentleman from Japan why he had come to the United States. His reply startled me. He said that he had come to the U.S. to find Christianity because it is the religion of love and therefore had to be the right religion! He saw a connection between Christianity, the love it manifested, and the United States.

America is being turned upside down. As it is going, the country will soon be unrecognizable, with personal freedoms limited if not erased and our Christian heritage and principles obliterated. Despite the Leftists proclamations that they are the defenders of democracy, what they are promoting will eliminate democracy, for it destroys its foundation.

I was, for a short time during college, a volunteer fireman, and my responsibility was to operate the equipment while more experienced firemen entered the burning building. Following a fire at one house, another student who had gone inside told me how he stood in the smoke-filled kitchen spraying water at the flames to no avail. It wasn’t until he realized that he was facing a mirrored wall and that the flames were actually behind him that he turned and was able to extinguish the fire. As long as he was sending water in the wrong direction the fire continued unabated.

Any time we stand next to the casket of a loved one we may find ourselves asking why death exists in the first place. Even those of us who know that God is love and reigns supreme see death as a very dark experience. Could He not have devised an easier way for us to depart this life into eternity? Must there be such suffering and fear? I am quite sure that God, in His sovereignty, could have done things differently, but in wisdom He chose not to. Even the joyful celebration of Christ’s resurrection at Easter time does not erase the darkness that was Christ’s necessary crucifixion.

Dear Millennials and Generation Xers:I understand that you believe you are getting a bad rap from us Baby Boomers. That we portray you as naïve, whining a lot, and doing little. It is true that no generalization applies to everyone, and there are undoubtedly many young Americans who are outstanding... But, I would like to point out some serious issues related to the attitudes of many young Americans, maybe even you.

My mentor, when I became the leader of a pro-life organization, told me that it was not enough to inform Christians regarding the issues at stake in the abortion battle; I had to give them something to do or they would become frustrated and inactive. As I have listened to conservatives address the multiple threats the Left poses to America and our liberties, I find myself frustrated by the lack of options they present.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
I realize that there are many definitions of what a Christian is, but I am writing to those of you who have, like me, trusted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and have been born again. We live in perilous times, and for the first time in hundreds of years on this continent, we face serious opposition and potential persecution.

With the vast number of books, movies, and songs written commiserating the consequences of bad choices (which would include most every Country and Western song written), one would think that young Americans would not need to be told to think carefully about their choices in life. A popular British band sang, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” not that long ago, but America’s youth apparently never got the memo!

It is simple: good people don't commit murder. Murderers do! Multiple mass shootings over the last few years, and especially recently, have caused a great sense of frustration among citizens, yet the only message coming from some politicians is about reducing the number of guns in society. They never address the fundamental issue which is that guns in the hands of good people never cause a problem, and in fact often save lives. Yet law abiding citizens are always the target of Leftists’ gun control laws.

The high incarceration rate in America has raised many questions over the years and is one reason used by the Left for demanding radical changes to or even a dismantling of the Nation. They sometimes try to blame America’s Judeo/Christian...

So, you want a divorce? You might just want to think that through a little bit first. Because of the importance of marriage to the individuals involved as well as society, someone has said, “We should make it hard to get married and harder to divorce.” Attitudes of most Americans and even Christians regarding marriage and family have changed radically over the last fifty years, but the consequences have been significant and detrimental. Because the family is the most important foundation stone of a stable and prosperous culture and nation, when the majority of the citizens take marriage lightly the very future of the nation is in doubt, to say nothing of the well-being of its children.

I have always loved children. Their innocence and utter vulnerability make it impossible for anyone with a heart not to be drawn to them, to love them, and want to protect them. I am confident in declaring that there is not a greater human evil than that of destroying the life of a child! Jesus Christ agreed when He said that it would be better that a person have a millstone hung around their neck and they be cast into the sea than to cause offense (injury) to a child!
