State Representative Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) stood alongside her Republican colleagues on the floor of the Illinois House to offer a united front in opposing sweeping abortion expansion legislation.

In this short video of the committee hearing, Bryant says SB 25 as amended redefines Illinois law to call abortions a ‘fundamental right’, and repeals critical elements of parental notification, while leaving unknowing, unsuspecting parents or guardians on the hook for financial costs related to the abortion of their child.

“What this law says is, when a baby is wanted….there is value, and when a baby is not wanted, there is no value to the life,” Bryant said. “I’m talking about basic human rights. SB 25 Amendment 1 changes the definition of viability and allows an unborn child no independent rights. This is a human life that fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, period. I condemn the passage of this legislation in the strongest terms.”
